Recognizing the Need
- In developing countries we find unemployment rates ranging from 30 – 70 percent. 2.8 billion people live on less than $2.00 per day. Fifty percent of the world’s population is under the age of 25. In the next 20 years, 3 billion young people will enter the marketplace looking for employment. Thus, we can never meet some of the most critical needs of the world unless we address the area of economic development along with poverty.
- People want a chance for dignity and transformation and need the freedom and financial wherewithal to be entrepreneurs.
- In developing countries where there is a high percentage of unemployment banks will not loan money to individuals with little or no collateral, regardless of their desire and potential.
- There is a market and capacity for small businesses to flourish, but there is little available seed capital and business training to begin.
- Resource abundant countries have the capacity to share their abundance – all they need is a link!
